Here's how to accurately measure dry ingredients.

Most recipes don't tell you how to measure the flour and this can really affect the outcome of the recipe. You want to use a spoon to scoop the flour into a dry measuring cup and then level off with a knife. If you plunge the measuring cup into the flour, it will compact the flour and you will end up with more flour than the recipe calls for.

When cleaning a Cast Iron Pan, never ever soak it in water.

To clean a cast iron pan, use a damp paper towel with table salt on it as an abrasive. Gently scour the pan with the paper towel. Make sure to remove all salt form the pan, you can quickly rinse the pan under running water, but dry immediately and then heat the pan over medium heat and apply a thin layer of vegetable shortening. This will protect the surface of your cast iron pan and create a nice patina.

Knife storage : Protect your knives by investing in a Knife Block.

I recommend keeping your knives in a knife block. This will protect the sharp cutting edge, which means you will need to sharpen your knives less frequently. Also, if you store your knives in a drawer you are more likely to cut yourself. If you need to store your knives in a drawer, place a cork on the tip of the blade. I sharpen my knives at home with a Chef's Choice sharpener. You could also have a professional sharpen your knives.

How to cook Perfect Rice every time without a rice cooker.

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of Rice and 2 cups of water, then stir. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. This method and recipe also works will with Quinoa - which is one of the healthiest grains.

Keep your clothes clean by investing in an Apron.

Invest in an apron or chef's jacket to prevent damage to your regular clothes. I can't tell you how many times I didn't put on an apron because I was in a hurry - only to splash tomato sauce on my blouse. Having to clean the stain and change shirts does not help save time! I also make sure there are 'bar mops' available to keep the kitchen clean and tidy. There are a lot of online websites that sell to the food and beverage industry that you can purchase from at affordable rates.
